Abby Hone

We take pride in being a riding centre that offers a wide selection of activities to suit all standards, from beginner to advanced and from tiny tots to adult riders.
Georgie
Manager
Georgie has ridden at Barton End Stables since she was 7 right through to 17 when she bought her own horse Whisper from Abby – whom she still has now. Georgie progressed from being a Sunday helper to running the barn at the weekend which she thoroughly enjoyed as it gave her a chance to teach others the same way she had been taught when she was younger.
Georgie has a Psychology BA Hons degree and has experienced of working with children and adults with special and educational needs, in and out of the equine setting and finds Barton End to be the perfect therapeutic environment in the beautiful countryside.
Karen
Instructor
Karen Joynson BHSII & UKCC L3 Coach in Dressage, Show Jumping & Eventing. I am also a Franklin Ball Specialist trainer. I have always had a passion for teaching all levels of rider, from beginner to advanced level. I have worked at Barton End for 23 years, I love to see riders progress, with emphasis on making lessons fun & informative & getting the basics right.
I have been around horses for 43 years, riding in all disciplines. I have competed for British Dressage in the England squad, ridden in Show Hunters at the Horse of the Year Show. I love to work with young horses, having many years experience of breeding & training through the levels. I have coached many riders over the years, who have gone on to be elite level riders & trainers themselves. I like to use an easy to understand training method for both horse & rider, to bring out the very best.
Sophie
Instructor
She has competed up to Elementary in dressage (Squirrel). Binks and Sophie placed 5th at Regional Finals for the dressage team in 2020, and evented at 90 in 2021. Sophie’s hope is to take him out again but current family commitments have pushed competition goals to the side for now.
Sophie is qualified at Stage 2 to teach and keen to complete my stage 3.
